Other information you should know:
Flushable Wipes should NOT be flushed. They will clog sewer drains and will cause backups into your basement. If too many residents flush the wipes, a build up could occur at the wastewater treatment facility. If flushable wipes clog at wwtp, they could burn out motors. These could be very expensive repairs for the city, which could mean an increase in sewer rates to help pay for the costly repairs.
Grass Clippings should NOT be mowed into any city street, gutter or storm drain. During rainstorms, grass clippings quickly plug storm drains and pipes. Residents that mow their grass clippings into the city street may be fined $10.00 for each occurrence.
Vehicles (Inoperable and unlicensed) All vehicles must have current license tabs, be insured and be in working order. Vehicles not currently licensed, insured and not working must be stored in an enclosed building or removed from the property.
Storm Drains are designed to carry rain water, surface run off and snow melt to the river. Storm Sewers are not designed to handle leaves, grass clippings and yard debris. During rainstorms, grass clippings, leaves and other yard waste can plug storm drains/grates and contribute to clogs and back-ups. In heavy rain events clogs and back-ups can cause flooding.
HELP KEEP STORM DRAINS CLEAN Do not dispose of motor oil, antifreeze, paints , solvents or other material in storm drains. Wash vehicles on a grassy area rather than your driveway to reduce the amount of soap. Sweep fertilizer and soil off driveways and walkways. Dispose of pet wastes properly.
No rainspouts or surface drainage and no foundation drain, SUMP PUMPS shall be connected into the sanitary sewer system, during the winter months.
