Building Permits & Inspections

You need a building permit for anything that would change the footprint of your home or property.  Examples would be fences, decks, garages/sheds (even if you bring in a pre-made building).  The fee for the building permits is based on the cost of the project.  Demolition permits are required also, but no cost for the permit.  There are no permits required for inside work or for shingles, siding or windows (unless it is an egress window).  The permit information on set backs and height requirements is located with our ordinances.  

Once the zoning application is approved by the planning commission; the city council will approve/deny at their next city council meeting.

Permit Fees

An office fee of $3.00 will be charged for each permit along with the following fees

Up to and including $500.00 - $5.00

$501.00 - $2000.00 - $5.00 for first $500.00, plus $4.00 for each addtional $100.00

$2001.00 - $25,000.00 - $20.00 for first $2000.00 plus $4.00 for each additional $1000.00

$25,001.00 - $50,000.00 - $112.00 for first $25,001.00 plus $3.00 for each additional $1000.00

$50,001.00 - $100,000.00 - $187.00 for first $50,001.00 plus $2.00 for each additional $1000.00

$100,001.00 - $500,00.00 - $287.00 for first $100,001.00 plus $1.50 for each additional $1000.00

$500,001.00 and up - $887.00 for first $500,001.00 plus $1.00 for each additional $1000.00

Variance -$75.00 plus cost of permit

Conditional Use Permit - $75.00 plus cost of permit

Rezoning Request - $150.00 plus cost of any recording fees

Demolition or Removal Permit - No fee, property owner is responsible for capping water/sewer lines. Leveling lot and keeping it in well condition

New Water Service - $650.00

New Sewer Service - $350.00
